FORTUNETELLER
News, views and everything TFFC by Nigel Kyte
Welcome to issue 39 of the newsletter
Thankfully this has not happened too often this season! The First Team, Second Team and Old Boys Team all lost this morning. The FIRST TEAM completed their first season in Division One since 1987/88 by being beaten by newly-crowned champions OAKWOOD 3-1 at Parmiters. Paul Walker scored Fortune's lone goal with a penalty. Said assistant manager Jack Morris: "We put up a decent fight for 60 minutes but by the end I think everyone was looking forward to their summer holidays!"
With Gosling not available, the SECOND TEAM played their first home match on the First Team's 3G pitch at The Hive and lost 5-1 to NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C'. Terry Jeffries netted a consolation goal.
And to cap a miserable morning's football for the Club, the OLD BOYS TEAM took on EDRS STONEGROVE in the semi-final of the Masters Division Two Cup at The Hive (after a rush from Goslings following a double-booking mix-up) and were defeated 3-0. A goal in the first couple of minutes was the worst possible start and for all the Old Boys Team's effort, EDRS added two more to reach the Final. This was the second season in succession that our Masters team have gone out in the last four of this competition. More details of all three matches can be found under 'Maccabi Football Review' on the right.
CLUB AWARDS: BALLOTS OPEN TODAY
Each season the Club holds ballots to establish the PLAYER OF THE YEAR and CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR Award winners. The ballot system has continued for well over 25 years and most members take part in the voting each season. This season, with three teams in operation, we will have awards for the FIRST TEAM, the SECOND TEAM and the OLD BOYS TEAM. The ballots open on SUNDAY 1ST APRIL and ballot forms will be emailed to members with full instructions. The deadline is 1ST MAY, so look out for your voting email sent today.
The best way to define the difference between the Awards is that the Player of the Year does it ON THE FIELD of play, whilst the Clubman of the Year does it OFF THE FIELD of play! You can vote for any Full or Honorary member named in the List of Nominations.
Things to consider: Player of the Year Footballing ability, skill, effort, consistency, general performances, motivation, enthusiasm, sportsmanship and general conduct. General co-operation with all off-the-field matters should NOT be considered for Player of the Year. Clubman of the Year General co-operation with Team Manager/Secretary, reliability, punctuality at meeting places and venues, paying subs promptly, helping with playing equipment, washing kit, always accepting team selection decisions, always adhering to Conditions of Membership. Footballing ability, skill and other on-the-field matters should NOT be considered for Clubman of the Year.
AWARDS PRESENTATION LUNCH: SUNDAY 3RD JUNE 2012
Please make a note in your diary: SUNDAY 3RD JUNE! That's when the Club will be holding an Awards Presentation Lunch at a location to be decided. Since the Club Awards will be presented for season 2011/12, we would like as many Club Members to attend as possible. The main course must be paid for in advance which both reserves your place and makes payment by the Club easier on the day. Look out for full details in the email being sent out in the coming weeks.
NOMINATION FOR OFFICERS 2012/13
This is early notification that nominations for Officers to serve on the TFFC Management Committee for the 2012/13 season may be made in writing to The Chairman, 80 Hale Drive, London NW7 3ED no later than SUNDAY 20TH MAY. It is only fair to point out that anyone fancying an active Committee role must be prepared for months of hard work and dedicated commitment stretching right through a long season. This is particularly true of one of the Team Secretary roles, where team selection is notably a difficult task, demanding continuous man-management and tact from start to finish. The strength of the Club has always been its Management Committee and anyone elected to serve will have to devote a lot of time and effort.
THE TFFC'S 36TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This is early notification that this season's ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will be held on SUNDAY 16TH JUNE 2012 at a venue to be announced, starting at 10.30am.

MACCABI FOOTBALL REVIEW
MSFL review by Danny Caro, www.thejc.com/msfl
BARRY GOLDSTEIN TROPHY
UJIA 1, BLIZZARD STORM 0
Jeremy Teacher was the matchwinner as UJIA booked their place in their second consecutive BGT final following a hard fought win over Division Three rivals Blizzard Storm at Chase Lodge.
NORTH WEST NEASDEN 'C' 2, GLENTHORNE UNITED 'B' 1
Oli Joseph and Benjy Gourgey scored as NWN 'C' edged past Division Three champions Glenthorne 'B' to set up a final against UJIA at Wingate & Finchley on April 22. Top-scorer and joint-player-manager Craig Sandford netted for Glenthorne.
MSFL FIRST DIVISION
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 3, WOODFORD WANDERERS 3
Chigwell's promotion hopes are over for another season after they shared the points following a six-goal thriller against local rivals Woodford at Peter May. Chigwell flew into a 2-0 lead with Paul Lenchner and Jamie Fox netting. Mitch Hahn pulled one back before half time. Woodford levelled things up in the second half before forging ahead. Chigwell made it 3-3 thanks to an own goal.
NORSTAR 'A' 2, BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'A' 3
A late winner from Ben Weinberg put Brixton in pole position to clinch the runners-up spot after they claimed an impressive win over second-place Norstar at the Ark Academy. It looked like Norstar had secured promotion at half-time as they led 2-0, but Brixton hit back big style to turn the game on its head in the second half. Weinberg (2) and Jamie Kent scored for them.
OAKWOOD 3, TEMPLE FORTUNE 'A' 1
Newly-crowned champions Oakwood had too much on the day for Temple Fortune 'A', with goals from Jason Lindsay, Jonny Beilin and Eddie Manson steering them home. Paul Walker netted Fortune's only reply, from a penalty kick.
MSFL FOURTH DIVISION
ATHLETIC BILBAUM 1, SPEC FC 0
Jake Gilbert went down in Athletic Bilbaum folklore after scoring the goal that settled the contest for the runners-up spot as the Baums crushed SPEC FC's hopes of automatic promotion.
BRADY MACCABI 'B' 5, NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C' 1
Congratulations to Brady Maccabi B who have been crowned champions of Division Four in their first season following strikes from James Joseph (2), Dan Hildebrand, Reiss Mogilner and Dan Harrod.
TEMPLE FORTUNE 'B' 1, NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C' 5
Raiders 'C' found their shooting boots, with goals from Josh Fineman, Ashley Davidson, Darren Russell, Joe Newton and Daniel Garb earning a morale-boosting 5-1 win over Temple Fortune 'B' at The Hive. Player-manager Terry Jeffries pulled back a consolation for Fortune.

HENRY SWERNER MACCABI MASTERS CUP
The 2012 Henry Swerner Maccabi Masters Cup Final - to be held at Wingate & Finchley FC on Sunday 29th April (KO 6.30pm) - will be contested between Brady Maccabi 'A' and Glenthorne 'A'.
Brady Maccabi put out London Maccabi Lions with a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Mark Wagman, Laurence Myers and Nick Collins, with Laurence Leigh netting Lions' reply.
Attempting to deny league champions Brady a second successive 'double' will be their nearest league rivals, Glenthorne 'A', who overcame the challenge from South Mancs 3-0, with goals from Paul Allen, Nick Belkin and an own goal.
NATHAN HORWITZ DIVISION TWO CUP, SPONSORED BY ATLANTIS TRAVEL
EDRS Stonegrove made it through to the Final against London Maccabi Lions or Glenthorne 'B' with a 3-0 win over Temple Fortune Old Boys. Steve Krieger scored twice, with Mark Kingston also on target. The final will be played at Barnet's Underhill Stadium on Wednesday 16th May, kicking-off at 7.30pm.
