The FIRST TEAM slipped to a rather unfortunate 2-0 defeat to Norstar on a miserable rainy morning at The Hive to extend their losing sequence to four games and five without a win. But both the SECOND TEAM and OLD BOYS TEAM enjoyed excellent victories to lift any gloom in the Fortune camp. In particular, our Masters team's 4-2 win against Marshside in the MMFL Division 2 Cup was the more impressive result, putting them through to the semi-final for the second season in succession. JAMES RYAN (2), JEREMY FESS and PHIL BLOOMBERG netted the goals to see off Marshside after a tied first half at 2-2. Allon Schick-Maier, who faces a fine for turning up late yet again, missed a penalty. Said manager David Goldberg: "We played really well. We battled hard and it was a very good performance. Again we gave away two poor goals but the team got what they deserved thanks to their effort." It was the Old Boys Team's fifth match unbeaten; ironically the last defeat was 4-0 in a league fixture on December 4th against Marshside!
The SECOND TEAM beat fellow-Division 4 side Jewventus by 3-1 in the second Group C fixture in the Barry Goldstein Trophy (formerly the Minor Invitation Cup). It was their third victory against the same opposition this season. JOEY GLYNNE (2) and TERRY JEFFRIES scored the important goals. The result, coupled with Faithfold's 4-1 win against Catford & Bromley, places Fortune second in their group with the last match against Third Division strugglers Catford & Bromley to come. A win or draw there will push the Seconds through to a quarter-final appearance.
Back to the First Team, assistant manager Jack Morris had this to say about the defeat against Norstar: "I thought we were really unlucky today. I can't fault the effort of everyone and in truth we probably could have come away with a point, but we were just lacking in the final third. All credit to Norstar who are a very good team, but at times we were really on top of them today and had a couple of great chances to equalise. We didn't take them and they killed us off with the 2nd 5mins from time. If we play like this next game, I have no doubt we can pick up the points we need to survive."
LEE REACHES HIS 100 GAMES MILESTONE
Congratualtiopns to LEE FEGAN who has become the 51st player to reach 100 appearances for Temple Fortune. He will have his name and photo added to the '100 Club' roll of honour on the website. Next in line as TFFC cenurions are Rob Jay and Gavin Levy who stand on 95 and 92 appearances respectively.
KEEP IT ZIPPED!
A timely reminder to those who think yapping at the referee gets you somewhere a caution for DISSENT will cost you £16. The First Team have had four yellow cards for this offence in the past two matches, which is far too many. This message goes to ALL players representing Temple Fortune: KEEP IT ZIPPED!
PUNCTUALITY ESSENTIAL
Another reminder that you are requested to be at the venue NO LATER than 30 minutes before the kick-off. Anything after that is LATE. This applies to all three of our teams and fines will be imposed on repeated late-comers. Please take the time to click here and read the information carefully. LATE PLAYERS will continue to be named and shamed on this page in future and fines/suspensions will be imposed as necessary.
ABUSE THE REF MEANS A FOUR MATCH BAN
The Club has been making a point of drumming into all our players that abusing a match official will NOT be tolerated and will earn any offender a ban of FOUR MATCHES. A reminder will be emailed from time to time to everyone in the shape of examples of things you could say to a referee and be sent off. Some of the jpegs you will find amusing but the serious message is always the same ABUSE THE REF = FOUR MATCH BAN.

MACCABI FOOTBALL REVIEW
MSFL review by Danny Caro, www.thejc.com/msfl
MSFL FIRST DIVISION
BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'A' 9, SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' 1
A hat-trick from Rob Hershkorn inspired Brixton 'A' to their biggest win of the season as they crushed struggling Southgate Harmen 'B' 9-1 at Clowes. Further efforts from Alon Hershkorn (2), Dan Sherman (2), Michael Posner and Matt Tahan completed the rout.
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 0, OAKWOOD 6
Oakwood put one hand on the Division One title after hitting title rivals for six in Walthamstow. A one-sided affair saw the Oaks extend their winning run to seven league matches and an 11th success in the league this season. It marked a third win in all competitions over Chigwell this season and puts a huge dent in the east Londoners' promotion hopes.
NORTH WEST NEASDEN 'B' 2, REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE 'B' 3
Redbridge 'B' ended their losing streak with victory in a five-goal thriller against Neasden 'B'. Goals from Richie Caplin, Dan Orgel and JC star man Scott Kaye sealed a memorable win for Stirling Kay's men in Neasden's final game of the season.
MSFL FOURTH DIVISION
FC TEAM 'C' 3, BRADY MACCABI 'B' 5
Brady went top of the table on goal difference following this win.
BARRY GOLDSTEIN TROPHY, GROUP C
CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 1, FAITHFOLD 'B' 4
Favourites Faithfold B made it two out of two with a double from Richard Winton plus one apiece Leor Harel and Ben Loftus easing them past third division Catford. Joel Berwitz fired a consolation for the Cats.

MMFL DIVISION TWO CUP
LONDON MACCABI LIONS 4, BRADY MACCABI 'B' 1
Level at 1-1 on the hour (Darren Coon for the Lions after 25 seconds, Danny Collins equalising for Brady), Brady Maccabi 'B' shot themselves in the foot when Peter Sugerman was red carded for abuse after collecting a caution. London Lions soon retook the lead through a David Kyte piledriver and went on to win comfortably by 4-1, David Price adding a couple more.
