MACCABI GB RICHARD URBAN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, 2018

Temple Fortune FC Chairman Nigel Kyte was the 2018 recipient of the Maccabi GB Richard Urban Lifetime Achievement Award, his second such accolade 15 years after the first one in 2003.

The award, for services to Temple Fortune FC, was presented at the Maccabi GB offices at Shield House in Hendon by Neil Taylor, the Head of Sports & Community Partnerships at Maccabi GB, on Thursday 12th March 2020. An oversight by Maccabi GB caused a lengthy delay in the award being presented but they put it right in the end!

Said Neil: "A volunteer like Nigel giving such long and dedicated service to a sports club over many years is so rare to find in this day and age and his excellent services to his club, spanning an incredible 50 years, should not be underestimated. He fully deserves this achievement and it is a shame it has taken so long for us to present it, for which I apologise on behalf of Maccabi GB."

This second award carries the name of Richard Urban, who served Maccabi Union/GB with distinction over many years. He was also a long-serving M(S)FL referee and Richard's name was added to the award in his memory after he passed away.

Nigel said: "Yes, it has taken a long time to get the award but they got there in the end! I am pleased to have collected this accolade for a second time and I would like to thank Danny Caro for the original nomination."

"It makes me wonder that had Maccabi GB known I won the Lifetime Award 15 years previously, would I have received it again?" he mused. "I'm not exactly going to be bothered about trivialities like that – it took them long enough to present the award so they're not getting it back!"
