With the event being staged outdoors at the picturesque Beefeater venue, fortunately the rain held off (just about) as everyone present watched the presentation and then tucked into their food, spread around 8 tables with large parasols. The trophies were laid out on two adjoining tables at the front as one by one the award winners received their accolades. The First Team's commemorative DVDs were handed out to those present from the MSFL Second Division championship-winning team. Starting at noon and lasting about two and a half hours, the event was another successful and enjoyable one, excellently organised by First Team defender Jack Morris.
Attendancewise, half of the First Team squad were present, a third of the Old Boys turned up and around one sixth of the Second Team were there. Said Chairman Nigel Kyte: "The lunch went very well and my sincere thanks go to Jack for all his efforts in arranging it. We cannot force players to attend but it's a shame more do not, especially award recipients. The lunch is the Club's end-of-season get together where all members can mix socially and join in celebrating the success of teams and individuals alike. Apart from Gavin and Rob, who both ran the Second Team, the Seconds were only represented by Simon Allen, the Player of the Year, which in itself was disappointing. Nevertheless, I prefer to think about those who did attend rather than those who didn't and would like to thank everyone who made the effort to attend. As seems to be the traditional case with TFFC social events, it was another good one."
Organiser Jack Morris said: "I'd just like to thank everyone who attended for taking the time to come down and share the day with everyone. As Nigel has said, it is a shame more people could not make it, but for those that did, I hope you enjoyed the afternoon. Once I again I would like to congratulate all the award winners, and I look forward to welcoming you all back, plus many more, for next year's awards lunch!"
